VYCOR® immersion heaters are ideal for heating acids and plating solutions and for general laboratory heating purposes. They heat quickly and efficiently by infrared radiation, as well as by conduction and convection, and continuously heat at maximum temperature as long as plugged in. Only the glass portion should be immersed. The electrical heating element is enclosed in a red sheath made of 96% silica glass which completely shields the heating section. The unit is equipped with a cord and is ready to plug in. The corrosion resistance of the VYCOR® jacket, even at elevated temperatures, assures freedom from chemical contamination. The upper portion (unheated length) of the unit can be rested against the side of the beakers, water baths or other glass vessels. The heater cord is approximately 1.5m long. To ensure long life, scale build-up should be removed periodically. Usage warnings and cleaning instructions are packed with each unit.
